Last night we stayed at a Yogi Bear’s Jellystone
Park. We had never stayed at one of
these resorts before. It was a half
price Passport America campground. I
made some really good oatmeal this morning with quinoa and chia seeds, almond
milk, honey, raisins, apples and walnuts.
Jim updated the blog while I went to see Yogi Bear at the raising of the
U.S. Flag for the day - I had my picture taken with him.
We left camp and drove to Lackawanna State Park
just north of Scranton. After selecting
a site we drove into Scranton to Steamtown National Historic Site. This is a
steam railroading museum. It is on the
yard of the Delaware, Lackawana and Western Railroad. It has a round house, a working turntable, and maintenance buildings
where the old steam locomotives are restored and maintained. There is also a collection of old
locomotives and rail cars. One of the
locomotives was a “Big Boy”, one of the largest and most powerful steam
locomotive in the world. It weighs
1,250,000 pounds. We went on a
behind-the-scenes maintenance tour. They have a locomotive that has been cut
away on one side and a ranger talked about how it works (it’s complicated).
After the museum closed at 5 pm we went a couple
of blocks over to Backyard Ale House
and had a couple of beers. It was sunny
this morning but by 6pm it started to rain again. I talked to mom this afternoon and she seemed to be having a good
day and was making a lot of sense. We
went back to camp and I cooked supper.
We have been gone 31 days and haven’t seen any molded fiberglass
trailers yet. Today we saw the first
one and it was a Casita.
