8/27/15 - Milford, VA
The McDonalds in Milford has sausage McGriddles for
$1.00 so we went there for breakfast this morning. Then we set out for Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic
Park. On the way we stopped at the
Jackson Shrine.
It is part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania Battlefields Memorial
National Historic Park. This is where Stonewall Jackson died
after he was wounded by friendly fire in the Battle of the Wilderness. We went on a tour of the house and saw Jackson's deathbed. Then we drove to Manassas National Battlefield Park and walked a
few of the trails. We saw the Stonewall
Jackson monument and the memorial to General Barnard Elliot Bee who coined the nickname “Stonewall” for Jackson.
It was time for rush hour and we were really near DC so we went to (Little)
Badwolf Brewing, Heritage Brewing, and (Big) Badwolf Brewing to wait out the
traffic. We also visited the local homebrew
shop, Jay’s. We got back to the Casita around 9 and I fixed supper.
