8/22/15 - Clinton, MD

Today Jim drove.  We went to Greenbelt Park and checked out the campground.  Then we went to Clara Barton National Historic Site in Glen Echo.  Clara Barton was called the Angel of the Battlefield.  She helped wounded soldiers during battle in the Civil War.  She wasn’t a nurse, she learned everything in the field.  She went on to found the American Red Cross and the headquarters was in her home.  Glen Echo also has a park next door that has a carousel.  I rode it.  It had a very neat old Wurlitzer player organ.  After having lunch we drove to another part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park.  After looking at the locks we walked to the Potomac River and took picture of the Great Falls.  Great Falls National Park is in Virginia so we drove there and took pictures of the falls from that side also.  There was some kind of incident while we were there and a helicopter flew over looking for something or someone.  Fire trucks also showed up.  We made a stop at Wal-mart for a few items before returning to camp.
